The University of West Florida is located in Pensacola, Florida and is one of the larger schools in the area. Established in 1963, the school is a mid-sized four-year college complete with Division II sports teams and over 10,000 students.

The University of West Florida offers associate, bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees in a variety of areas. The school features 49 degree programs, 110 specialization areas and the top honors program in the state of Florida. The school also has a low student-to-teacher ratio with 322 professors. The school offers majors in everything from anthropology to marine biology to marketing to juvenile justice. The university boasts accreditation from ten different accreditation organizations. The University of West Florida also has 300 online courses. The school offers a waiver for out-of-state students to enroll in online classes at resident student prices. The school's in-state tuition as of June 2009 is just $3,168 plus books.

Although primarily a commuter school (only 10% of undergraduates reside on campus), the university offers three traditional residence halls (Argo, Martin and Pace Halls), single-student housing, two-student housing and student apartments. Additionally, the school has an active Greek life community with 15 fraternities and sororities. The school is also known for its location. 20 miles of beaches right near the school make it a popular destination for students looking for a good time. The campus proper features 1,600 acres of nature preserves for students to explore and hiking activities.

UWF features numerous athletic teams. The school has men's sports in baseball, basketball, cross country, golf, soccer and tennis. The school features women's sports in basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, softball, tennis and volleyball. The school's athletic background includes 50 GSC championships, 4 GSC Commissioner's trophies, and 3 men's and 7 women's GSC All-Sports trophies.
