Today, online learning opportunities account for approximately 7% of postsecondary education. The Online Learning System

To provide more opportunities for discussion, students who take online classes are grouped into learning teams of between eight and 14 students. Each course lasts for five or six weeks. Since the experience is more demanding than what you’d find in a traditional classroom, students are only permitted to enroll in one course at a time.

All courses are taught by faculty members who have masters or doctorate degrees in addition to significant professional work experience. In fact, most instructors continue to work full-time in their fields while teaching part-time.

Unlike traditional brick-and-mortar universities, the University of Phoenix caters to the needs of those who have long since finished high school. The average student is 34 and has several years of full-time work experience. He/she is attracted to this form of distance learning because of the convenience and flexibility it offers.

According to one recent survey, 70% of students are seeking an undergraduate degree, 26% are pursing a graduate degree, and 4% are taking classes for personal fulfillment. Of the degree-seeking students, 65% eventually complete the program.

Since many University of Phoenix online students are taking classes to advance their careers, it’s important to consider how employers view an online degree. While employers once shunned job applicants with online credentials, e-learning is rapidly becoming more acceptable. One recent survey revealed that over 70% of human resources managers considered online degrees just as valuable as other types of educational credentials.

If you’ve previously taken college courses from other universities, you’ll need to submit a copy of your transcripts before beginning your studies. The University of Phoenix accepts transfer credits from other institutions if the coursework is consistent with the goals of your degree program.
