Itawamba Community College began serving students graduating from Itawamba County Agricultural High School in 1920. The school began offering a full college level education for the first time in the 1948 to 1949 session. Itawamba is in Northeast Mississippi.

The school has two campuses, in Fulton and Tupelo. The school is accredited. It is able to award Associate of Arts degrees, Associate of Applied Science degrees and career/technical certificates to students. Class sizes are small, usually with fewer than 35 participants. The school is an important non-credit education facility too, providing training and education for adult education, continuing education and industrial education.

Itawamba Community College offers several areas of study. Students may enroll for any reason for credit or noncredit courses, though there are admission requirements.
- Academic: Those enrolling in academic courses are able to earn college transfer credit. Many students enroll to take their first two-year college requirements while staying close to home and avoiding higher fees. The school offers numerous programs of study, including business management, accounting, computer technology and nursing.
- Early Education: Students who need one or two years of college education and training to get into a career can obtain that education through Itawamba. Automotive, tool and die, agriculture, and child development are a few of the areas of study here.
- Continuing Education: Continuing education required within a career may be available through Itawamba. These programs include self-development courses, in-house training for businesses and industries and personal enjoyment courses.
- Adult Basic Education: Those who need to get their GED or Adult Basic Education certificate may do so through programs offered at Itawamba. Flexible schedules and testing preparation are available.

While anyone may enroll in courses if they meet the academic requirements, those who live in-district will pay less than those who live outside the county or state. Some programs require specialized testing for enrollment. The school does offer financial aid to students.
