College Hockey
From LoveToKnow College
The current upsurge of interest in college hockey can be easily attributed to the fact that more than 25% of current NHL players were on college teams.
College Hockey vs NHL
The rules used in college hockey are, for the most part, the same as those used in the NHL. Two noticeable differences are that in college hockey, there is no clutching and grabbing and there is no fighting. Fighting in a college game is grounds for immediate exclusion.

Division I consists of 58 teams, and Division III consists of 68 schools.

The American Collegiate Hockey Association
The American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) started out as a men's collegiate hockey league in 1992, but it quickly morphed into a league hosting over 150 teams in three men's divisions. A Women's Division was added in 2000. At this time, the AHCA boasts four divisions and over 300 teams.
